Emergency Child Care First Aid - Delta British Columbia

Basic one-day course designed to introduce caregivers to injury prevention skills and knowledge. Course covers lifesaving first aid skills and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR and AED) for children, and babies.

Minimum Participants: A minimum of 4 participants is required to request onsite training.

Duration:

  • Blended Standard First Aid:
    • 8 hours of online learning
    • 5.5-7.5 hours of in-person teaching time

Course Overview:

Our comprehensive two-day Standard First Aid and CPR training program is designed for individuals who require certification for workplace safety or those who seek to enhance their ability to respond to emergencies at home. This course aligns with provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance board requirements, incorporating the latest first aid and CPR guidelines.

Completion Requirements:

To successfully complete the course, participants must:

  • Demonstrate all required skills, including critical steps
  • Maintain 100% attendance and active participation
  • Achieve a minimum passing grade of 75% on a written, closed-book knowledge evaluation
  • Adhere to the Fundamental Principles

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a 3-year certification in:

  • Standard First Aid
  • CPR Level A or C
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use

Recertification:

For those seeking recertification, the Standard First Aid recertification program requires 6.5–7.5 hours and includes CPR Level A or C and AED training to ensure compliance with local legislation.

Blended Standard First Aid:

  • 4 hours of online learning
  • 3-4 hours of in-person teaching time

Opioid Poisoning Awareness Workshop:

As an optional addition, participants can attend a 60-minute Opioid Poisoning Awareness Workshop. This workshop equips individuals with the knowledge and skills to recognize, access help, and provide care for suspected opioid poisoning, contributing to the prevention of death and disability.
