Course Overview
Delta First Safety provides the BC EMALB-approved Scope of Practice Update Training, designed for licensed Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) and First Responders (FRs) seeking to remove restrictions from their current Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board (EMALB) license. This course ensures compliance with the 2024 BCEHS Scope of Practice, covering updates outlined in Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 of the Emergency Health Services Act.
Who Should Take This Course?
This training is specifically intended for individuals who already hold a valid EMR or FR license with EMALB and need to update their certification to practice at the latest scope of care.
Course Format & Requirements

Blended Learning Approach:
- 8 hour Online Modules (Self-Paced) – Must be completed before the first in-class session.
- In-Class Training (16 Hours Total) – Two 8-hour instructor-led classroom sessions for hands-on practice and discussion.

Expanded Emergency Medical Responder Scope of Practice
In addition to the skills above, EMRs will be trained in:
✔ Use of inhaled analgesics (Methoxyflurane/Penthrox)
✔ Weight-based Epinephrine administration via intramuscular injection
✔ Administration of Salbutamol/Ventolin via nebulizer or metered-dose inhaler with spacer
Certification & Next Steps
Upon successful completion of both the online and in-person components, Delta First Safety will submit your completion record to BC EMALB. No further action is required on your part—EMALB will directly notify you of your updated certification and removal of Schedule 1 and 2 restrictions from your EMR or FR license.
