Course Overview
The EMR course is a comprehensive 100-hour program, divided into 30 hours of online learning and 70 hours of in-class training (over 10 days). To ensure you’re fully prepared, the online portion must be completed prior to the in-class portion. This allows you to learn key concepts at your own pace, while the in-class sessions focus on practical skills and real-world scenarios.

Audience:
This course is ideal for professionals in emergency medical care who are responsible for initial patient assessments, providing safe care, and transporting patients to healthcare facilities.
Prerequisites:
- Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
- Grade 10 English (recommended)
Completion Requirements:
To receive your certification, you must:
- Successfully demonstrate all required skills
- Achieve a minimum of 75% on a written, closed-book knowledge evaluation
- Complete and pass two evaluated scenarios (one medical and one trauma)
- Attend and participate in 100% of the course
Certification:
- 3-year Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification
- Digital certificate issued upon successful completion
- Recertification: 40 hours required to maintain certification

After You Complete the Delta First Safety EMR Course
Getting an Emergency Medical Assistant License in British Columbia:
STEP 1
After successfully completing the Delta First Safety Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course, you must request an evaluation from the Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board (EMALB). You will need to pass the required examinations for your license level within 12 months of finishing your EMR course to be eligible for licensure.
STEP 2
Submit your application for licensure to the EMALB. Please note that additional requirements may apply, and it's important to ensure you meet all criteria set by the EMALB. For further details, please consult the Government of BC website.
