Course Description: Onsite Stay Safe! 

Course Location: 7311 Vantage Wy #106, Delta, BC V4G 1C9

Minimum Participants: A minimum of 5 participants is required to request onsite training.

Special Arrangements for Students:

For the convenience and enjoyment of our students, the course includes special provisions:

  • Supplies: Students will be provided with art supplies for creative activities and snacks tailored to dietary restrictions, thoughtfully organized by program organizers.
  • Bring a Stuffed Animal: Each student should bring their own stuffed animal to enhance the learning experience and make the day even more enjoyable.
  • Engaging Activities: The day will be filled with fun and educational games and discussions that are specifically designed to enhance the learning process.

Course Overview:

The Stay Safe! program is designed to equip young individuals with applicable and age-appropriate skills that enhance their capacity to improve their own safety. In real-world scenarios, children are often called upon to respond to various challenges. This program emphasizes responsibility, respect, and accountability for oneself, teaching youth how to stay safe in different situations, whether in their community or on their own.

Instructor:

Your instructor is a dedicated Youth Leader with extensive experience in safety and child empowerment.

Prerequisite: Ages 9-13* (Please note age requirements for participation)

Course Content – Safety and First Aid:

Participants will learn a wide range of important skills, including:

  • Understanding the importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for oneself
  • Setting and following rules for safety when staying alone
  • Staying safe at home and within the community
  • How to prepare for, recognize, and respond to unexpected situations, such as inclement weather, encounters with strangers, and unanticipated visits

First Aid Content:

  • Check, Call, Care (which includes phoning EMS/911)
  • Recovery positions
  • Managing conscious choking (for adults, children, or when alone)
  • Responding to feeling unwell
  • Asthma care (including the use of inhaler and spacer)
  • Anaphylaxis response (including the use of EpiPens)
  • Handling poisoning cases
  • Dealing with insect stings
  • Wound care (minor cuts, scrapes, splinters, nosebleeds, bumps, bruises, life-threatening bleeding, burns)

Take-Home Material:

Each participant will receive a Stay Safe! Workbook to reinforce and continue their learning.
